Take a look at astronauts’ blogs and Twitter

The World Wide Web is an integral part of an astronaut’s means of communication. Those who are on mission often keep a blog or communicate via a Twitter account that can be accessed by the general public. So that you can rapidly find the relevant Internet addresses, Enjoy Space is now including them on the Manned Space Flights page. The link to each astronaut’s Twitter account or blog (if there is one) can be found at the bottom of his/her details. Opposite is an example with Maxim Suraev.

Features

  • Soyuz in Guiana

This is the mythical rocket par excellence, the one that launched Sputnik, the first satellite and Gagarin, the first man in space. The CSG, Guiana Space Centre, is now one of its launch bases: a historic achievement.

  • Star Trek and NASA

  • Alan Shepard, from suborbital to the Moon

50 years ago on 5 May 1961, a few weeks after Gagarin, American Alan Shepard reached space. Several years later, he was to walk on the Moon, summarising as it were the race in which the Soviet Union and the United States were competing.
